About the Company

Cherries Tasmania Orchard is a family run orchard and was established in 2003 by Nic & Traci Hansen, with Nic being a 4th generation orchardist. 

​Cherries Tasmania Orchards is located on Harvest Lane at Old Beach. Currently there are 80 hectares (200 acres) planted to cherries.

The orchard has been developed along the ethos of achieving world’s best industry practice at every task we undertake.

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Orchard Foreman to join our team. This position reports to the Orchard Manager We are seeking a candidate to assist with all day-to-day management, development, and growth of the orchard. This hands-on role liaises with our other Orchard Foreman, Orchard Manager and Director to ensure smooth processing of harvest, packing, machinery operations, chemical applications, pest management, irrigation checks and maintenance, supervision of trainee’s and other orchard workers and staff in picking and pruning seasons.


About You

  • Have a passion for the horticulture industry 

  • Experience in similar role preferably with knowledge of cherries

  • Ability to lead by example and motivate team to reach their full potential

  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices

  • Have well developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Be able to participate as a member of the team and to contribute to the overall achievement of the company’s objectives

  • Competent computer skills 



  • Assist with day-to-day management of the orchard to ensure effective commercial and safe operations in line with industry recognised best management practices

  • Work with other foreman, managers, and company directors to achieve the goals of the property

  • Operation of tractors for weed spraying and slashing

  • Assist with coordination of seasonal contractors 

  • Scheduling, checking and maintenance of irrigation and fertigation system 

  • Supervision of staff when picking and pruning

  • Supervision of trainee’s and other orchard workers 

  • Ensure compliance related to work, health and safety policies and procedures 

  • Report to and work collaboratively with the Orchard Manager

  • Maintain electronic records as required 

  • Collaborate with management team to ensure compliance with export audits etc 


Essential Criteria, Skills, and Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an Orchard

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar management role in the horticultural industry

  • Experience in drip irrigation

  • Chem Cert or willingness to obtain 

  • Valid manual driver’s licence and own transport 

  • Valid forklift licence or willingness to obtain

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent 


$65,000 - $80,000pa (based on qualifications and experience) + Super + Vehicle
